I'm modestly interested in the middle of next week. There is a continued signal for a solid hit of cold air and some indication of a jet streak and shortwave that could bring us some cold rain and possibly a little taste of snow ... at least in some parts of the region. I also would not rule out a few snow showers Thursday evening...especially in our southern Illinois communities.
I think a new thread is long overdue in time for Thanksgiving!

Models have been trying to do something there, and the 00z gfs throws us our first official bone of the season.

Looked like models were cooking up a respectable overrunning system next week with a sprawling surface ridge and cold airmass undercutting a deep SW flow. There's definitely a lot of cold air building to the north...

It does look like something is cooking around Thanksgiving
12z GFS has a big overrunning snow for the area and the GEFS looks favorable as well

Different intensity each run of course..this one is NICE! But it's 8 days out..😆 🤣 maybe..just maybe..GEM lost feature..EC has something cooking but different time etc at least as of 0z. Going to hang lights before the wind, in hopes I can entice Mother Nature to join the Winter 🥳🎉

First frozen precip of the season out here in the IL river bottoms...seems like small graupel or irregular flakes
