The Davis on the roof in North St. Pete reports.05" Better than nothing. At least we know it can still happen.

It's going to come down to Halloween as to whether October will finish with rain or not. The NWS says rain is likely so we'll see. Lambert received 0.05" today.

My vibes suggest a back end winter. Other concerns: winter tornadoes, freezing drizzle.

Looks like things could get frisky on and just after Election Day. First for some severe storms and heavy rain, then a fast flip to cold possibly ending as something frozen on the backside, CFS 768hr model shows a couple shots of light snow between Election Day and Thanksgiving. November could pull another arctic punch for the third year in a row. Probably cashing out on Winter early!

Also look out for more Auroras next week starting Monday as a gnarly sunspot group turns towards Earth and is still growing. It's already launched a CME this morning that could bring G3 Major Geomagnetic storm conditions Monday with more 'X' class flares and CMEs likely in the next few to several days. Halloween Solar Storms of 2024?

I'm not seeing it...persistent troffing near the Gulf of Alaska is going to be an issue for getting sustained cold air into the lower 48 and most of the cold air is bottled up across eastern Eurasia anyway. The EURO monthlies do look colder towards early December but that's way out there.

The 06z GFS puts out some 'pond filling' rain chances with several events through November 5th. Let's hope this comes true without any flooding rains.👍👍

Did Imgur change? Used to be when you wanted to post a Pic there was several 'code' options depending on where you were sharing, i.e. forums. Now there is only 1 link address to copy and it doesn't work. There must be an easier way??? I've seen Tapatalk mentioned in here. Is that just a download able app??

Trying but no luck yet. I was able to post a separate link but still trying to post within here.

Good trends on the models, really ramping up the precip amounts with this first system on Halloween.

Congratulations, Chris!
And if I may toot my own horn, our first grandbaby came into this world last Thursday. As amazing as it was to witness a total eclipse and two rounds of auroras this year, it doesn't even compare to holding that little guy in my arms and having him look up and smile...even if it is gas.

Still not seeing any real cold showing up on the models outside a quick transient shot.
The next 10 days or so look warm and very wet.
The SPC does have the area in a day 3 marginal risk.

The S stream is finally doing it's thing with a spray of shortwaves aimed our way into next week. This is the pattern change we've been needing with a sustained return flow. The moist airmass arrived quickly today. Hopefully it brings some soaking rain...looks promising so far!
