Radar estimates are definitely off on this event, 25% to 40% off from what I can tell.
More systems on the horizon. It might seem like a lot all at once but this is the best thing heading into winter, saturating the ground from the lower and central plains through our area.

Yeah I was pretty flabbergasted when I seen my rain gauge can was full sitting at 5" 7 miles west of De Soto. Rocks and leaves made it up onto the concrete portion of the driveway again but nothing like earlier this year. I will wager money the pond spillway is flowing. Thankfully, no issues at the house. Stay safe everyone. Curious to go up and see if MODOT's 'bandaid' worked wrt losing driveway rock up by the Hwy🤞🤞🤞🤞

Good catch on the storm total accumulation, I hadn't looked at it yet. It's usually pretty accurate at my house, but is showing 5 inches where the gauge is showing 7.

What's crazy is even though we had drought many of us are between 45 and 55 inches of rain for the year and actually well above average. This has been the year where 70 percent of our 40 inches has come in 3 to 4 big rain storms. It has been wild. Wish we could spread it out a bit

I'm sitting at an unofficial 9.25" in West Bloomsdale. Crazy. I wouldn't be shocked if it was more, I had the wife empty out the filled up gauge once yesterday.

I love how flooding like this is now a multiple time event per year thing.

I love how flooding like this is now a multiple time event per year thing. Spot on there. We might be doing this all over in 2 weeks too. And the rainfall amounts sound more like the snow amts that we used to get twice a year and now we get once every few years, lol

Finally beginning to rain here again after a totally quiet last night here in the far east. Yesterday's event surprised me a bit though with the heavy rain getting over here. Most people in town with rain gauges measured 4.5" or slightly more. That axis of rain was definitely a fair amount S and E of last night...the cut off sure was close though because just 50 miles SE of me was literally nothing yesterday morning.

This is nothing new …. In 1982 the two days before the blizzard we had flooding rains ….. I will agree it seems to happen more frequently though

I just love how flooding rainstorms will always shift directly into the Metro but snowstorms avoid us like the plague...

And it's nice that they happen right after the leaves fall off the trees and fields get harvested, so it's super-easy for storm drains to get clogged. I love that the most.
Oh...and they happen to dump 8" of rain in my yard right before we have 30 cars parked in it for Thanksgiving. I actually love THAT the mostest.

Had a couple areas on the driveway where the rocks were washed away and ran across the driveway creating a rut and deposited rocks down into the field a bit. So I drove up to look at the area MoDOT had worked on several months ago and the ditch had some water in it and it was flowing under my driveway where it was supposed to go in the ditch to the spot where it goes down the field into the pond so all that was working. Apparently the rest of it is just 'the lay of the land' from the road downhill and leans toward my driveway and the driveway flattens out so that creates kind of the 'running board' for the runoff. More work to do. Might need some 3-4" rocks along the edge of the driveway.😪

At Tesson & Kennerly. 12”+ and a flooded basement. Thank you for verifying. I thought I was crazy, but at the same time knew it had to be right because it’s in the middle of the yard! I haven’t looked since 8am but I think we’re about done.

My surgery was successful. I was told by beforehand to expect to stay overnight. But everything went so well I'm back home, which is much preferred.
But driving back home at about 11 AM I was surprised/angered by the large number of nitwits driving down the highway in the pouring rain with no lights on. I wish had the authority to give them all very expensive tickets.
