Freezing rain is like a bad ex girlfriend. Pretty to look at in the right light, but at the end of the day just a pain in the arse with no real redeeming qualities. Lol! So true.

Yypc, if it goes north we won’t as it’s gonna be too warm and it’s usually the case that by the time it gets cold the precip is over! We might have some freezing drizzle! Glad you got good snow! There was a avalanche in Aspen today I heard! Yes, someone died sadly. There have been a lot of avalanche deaths this year already, including two people skiing inbounds at Taos, NM which is expecially scary.

So is this govt shutdown thing going to end soon? This is absurd. It will end as soon as ole mitch lets the senate vote. So, never.

TWC just completely pulled any accumulation for us. Looking at 0" until you get all the way over into New York. They have most of the snow sticking in South Dakota.

Question, seeing the northern trend being brought up very often. Will this extremely cold air not help keep this storm down? Current temp forecast of 5° For the low has me wondering. Thats a strong front pushing through. Stronger storms shift to the northwest as you get closer to the event.

Why do I have an uneasy feeling this is a Chi storm and we are singing in the rain? Agree. Or at the very least, a PA to Maine blaster. Chicago may get the best of it in the midwest though which wont be saying much.

Still a long way to go on this one and there is 0 model consensus so far. We will have to wait a few more days at least to know the probable path.

A few inches of snow and sleet/ice for the immediate metro. More like 10” up near bowling green.

Next weekend looks like a chicago snow to me. Maybe we get some backside light snow on Sunday but no major accumulation, and hopefully no ice.

The real short term 'Enemy' is in Arkansas. That's where the Dryslot lives and will be pushing from. It seems like that wont even make it very far past poplar bluff though

Thanks. I will if he runs out of gas. Right now Im just trying to keep my mom calm. Apparently they have all the exits to the highway blocked off too so the cars cant go anywhere. I am the Sergeant on duty in the the 7th precinct where your Dad is - if he is in trouble he needs to call and we will find a way to get to him. Thank you, ill let him know

Yypc you might want to call the police about his situation. If he could walk it would be one thing, but a lack of mobility and a lack of gas could become dire. Or see if he can sit in another vehicle. Thanks. I will if he runs out of gas. Right now Im just trying to keep my mom calm. Apparently they have all the exits to the highway blocked off too so the cars cant go anywhere.

It is unreal watching 12-15 cars all over the 4 lane highway just trying to get up a hill. 40 was shut down 44 shut down in 2 areas. The news coverage is incredible watching this....The city is in chaos.... It is absolutely a crisis. This one will be talked about for years.

My Dad, for one. He’s at 44 and antire road. Been sitting in the same spot since 3pm due to road closure. Only a 1/4 tank of gas left and he can hardly walk after recently having surgery on his foot. Headed east or westbound of 44? Eastbound

The “snow that is falling now” line is a cop out. It has been enough to shut down many major roads. By the time many of those people sitting on the highways that are closed get home (tomorrow or sunday) there will be 10-15” on the ground. I dont think ppl will be sitting on the highway all night long much less two nights. My Dad, for one. He’s at 44 and antire road. Been sitting in the same spot since 3pm due to road closure. Only a 1/4 tank of gas left and he can hardly walk after recently having surgery on his foot.

We do this after alot of storms. We say "if forecasters" this...or "modot"that... I shoveled 3 inches just now. Not 15. Tv forecasters have been saying for days evening rush might be dicey. This was a well advertised storm. Too much focus on numbers. Should just say high impact or whatever because there are too many manhours spent on numbers and delineating them. Our employer told us yesterday we can work from home but if we came into the office to leave by noon. Ppl knew. The “snow that is falling now” line is a cop out. It has been enough to shut down many major roads. By the time many of those people sitting on the highways that are closed get home (tomorrow or sunday) there will be 10-15” on the ground.

There was a winter storm watch for days and a winter storm warning well in advance. Chris alluded to the rush hour timeframe well in advance. If people laugh off a winter storm warning...well that's pretty dumb. Once the numbers get above 6 inches in St. Louis things are going to be crappy regardless. Use a vacation day or make other arrangements. Did you see the message someone posted earier? Employer was saying anyone calling in sick or using vacation would be terminated. Its not that easy.
