Mid to late july usually has the hottest potential of the year. By August the sun isnt as intense.

Just flipped back to 2012 to see how next week will stack up. Not even close. We had several 83-86 degree low temps that year to go along with the 104-107 highs. Crazy.

Edit-this website I found said forest park is currently at 389 AQI which is hazardous and the highest reading in the country currently

I feel like Columbia has sat under 40 dbz downpours for the last 10 hours. Uncle Sam?? They are just priming the pump for next winter when they will get several 15”+ snowstorms that completely miss St. Louis. Same as it ever was.

Great... I said "this is not a tornado situation" and we have a southwest moving supercell that gives me nightmares of the Jarrell, Texas tornado. Dang that is a frightening comparison. It looks mean with that rotation showing up on radar.

Converging outflows (one from the eadt and one from the west) over St Clair and Monroe counties in Illinois should ignite the as yet untapped CAPE over metro east very soon. There is a very good chance of rapid development from near Fairview Heights back to near Waterloo in the next 30 to 60 minutes. Woohoo! Thanks Chris.

There are some mean hooks on those supercells in SW MO and OK. Looks like big hail too.

I still think Jarrell was #1. Having F5 winds sit in top of you for 5-10 mins and essentially sandblast you into oblivion is basically unsurvivable. The fact that the 2011 super outbreak has 2 of the top 3 shows how insane that day was.

Its disgusting out already. I am thinking about insulating and installing a mini split system in the garage to keep it cool in the summer. Does anyone have any experience with those good or bad?

Absolutely brutal. Sitting in south county with wet ground and no measurable precipitation to speak of. Worst bust I can remember, esp with the WSW. We should start calling this one the Jamarcus Russell storm.

We may never see anything like 2006 again. That was only around .5-.75” of ice in the metro right? I dont think that is too difficult to see again. I read this about the storm that will likely never be replicated. “Bloomington IL received 3” of ice followed by 17.6” of snow.”
