Just drove from chesterfield to affton. 40 was awful. Snowpacked and icy. Traffic was moving at around 5-30mph. Tons of accidents.

At least we got something outta this miserable weather. It'd make me feel better if it wasn't a tie though.

From the LSX NWS office... Plus we are approaching a solar minimum. Imagine what will happen when that reverses

Dews are hitting a wall in the upper 60s. Wonder if they'll be able to push into the 70s in the coming days.

Meanwhile a little west of Austin (about 150 miles west of Houston) my sister in law reports major drought problems and temps in the shade at 100+ yesterday. They had hoped Imelda would swing a little further west, but no luck My best friend lives there, it’s been humid and 95-100+ for 3 straight months now. Worse than phoenix.

My wife called to schedule the pool closing at our house, may be a little soon....lol I am about to mow in this... wishing I had an pool today more than any other day... Is that like attaching a snowplow to your truck? Guaranteed kiss of death. Mid 90s forever.

Geeze This summer part 345432 can end any time now. Looks like only slightly above average temps at the end of the 10 day. If you put a gun to my head and made me choose between 90s in september or low 80s at the start of november, Id take the former.

We didnt even have an extended stretch of 90s but with the excessive rainfall dews were in the 70-80 range almost throughout and we had high nighttime lows.

How can you say whether there were embedded tornados with a 185 mph hurricane and 220 mph gusts? That is EF4 to EF5 right there. Whether you call it a cane or a tornado seems largely irrelevant. A strong cat 5 hurricane is basically a massive tornado when you think about it.

Ok... here's a good quiz question for anyone willing to play. What is the maximum number of precipitation free days that we have had in a row since January 1st of this year? Anyone? Anyone? 😀 4

I'm glad we're not in Europe at the moment. Nasty heat. They've had a ridiculous summer so far. I just read that there is a call to start naming heat waves now like winter storms

Metro St. Louis looks to largely miss out on tonight/tomorrow's rain and we get 2-3 'cooler' days before it's back into the blast furnace once again through Early August. I will take all of the sub 65 dewpoint July days I can get. We got ~6 on tap it looks like.

I wonder about it all the time being a Native American history junkie. They likely had weather patterns figured out WAY more than we would believe. That would be no surprise to me considering that they figured out their relationship to the earth and a harmonious way of life way better than us as well. We are reliant on computers for everything now whereas the human mind can still be far more powerful and accurate at times.

If the dew point went over 98 degrees, would the human body still be able to cool itself with sweat?

Why do we not have a heat advisory I believe we have hit 100 plus heat indices for 4 days now. Just curious. Thanks I thought it was 105 heat index needed here. 100 heat index is fairly common in the summer.
