Don’t say that I just got back home after salting all morning. I need a break ! This snow piled up fast this morning, if this is how it will be tomorrow night it should be something pretty special, even if it’s only 3-5” it will be a neat snow. Treated Salt worked great today due to the low moisture content. That is something I remember from that stretch of cold and snow in 1977. The fatigue of plow operators, including private ones, as well as fatigue on the equipment from lots of use in extreme cold.

Feathery flakes still coming down lightly. But the sun is coming out. May need sunglasses inside the house

John Fuller just gave an accumulation for the city of 4.7, calling it preliminary and subject to change over the weekend. Do you mean 4 to 7 inches? Not 100% certain but it looked like a decimal point to me

Why is there no 11am news today on Fox2. They're working on moving in to the new studio this weekend. On Facebook Brigett Mahoney teased that they'll reveal it Sunday evening. I think that was part of Chris's “special project “ this week until he got detoured into the Storm Runner chasing the snow and ice

Euro is solid. Pretty close to .5 qpf for the area. Even at 10:1 that wouldn't be bad after December and January

Getting bright here and nothing is falling for the first time in a bit. Not quite a milky sunshine. But brighter than it's been since the Arctic air moved in. I could stand to see an hour or two of sunshine. Last of the Thanksgiving turkey broth to make homemade turkey soup for supper. Will warm my innards right up.

Small flakes and light snow in downtown St. Charles. And far NE St. Peters. Very fine flakes but coming down pretty good.

Eyeballing my driveway - it was clear about 830 last night and now there's maybe a quarter to a third of an inch on it in far NE St. Peters.
You're not a mile from my house, Chris. If there were no trees or buildings in the way I might be able to see you. Twocats might be able to see you even with the trees.

Similar wording from the Springfield, MO discussion for early next week
Exact track of the system and snowfall amounts are still in question, especially given that the upper level energy will not move onshore until Friday night. However, there is growing consensus in above mentioned ensemble members of an impactful snow. NBM probability for >4 inches of snow is currently around 50% across the entire area. Lower potentials exist for higher amounts. Things will likely change for better or worse as the event draws nearer, so stay tuned.

IDOT has closed the Brussels and Kampsville ferries because of excessive ice flows on the rivers. Hasn't been cold enough for long enough here for ice like that so it must be flowing down from up north.
