This is a good test to see if the pattern this year will be conducive to this type of secondary low development.
Would make for a huge snow season potentially.

Not much support for the euro in the GEFS camp. GFS will probably trend towards the euros overall pattern the next few days like it has recently

Man it would be pretty cool to have a snowstorm on Halloween! I would feel terrible for the younger kids though. Older kids would probably still venture out.
But as always, this cool setup is waaaay out in no mans land on the models.

I’m sorry what’s going on? Where did all this come from.? Last time I checked it was just a few snow showers. Where did this 4-6in stuff come from?

2017 also had a pretty significant bite of cold air at the end of October. Didn't translate all that well for the winter, though.

2017 also had a pretty significant bite of cold air at the end of October. Didn't translate all that well for the winter, though. Siberian snowfall extent for October will be above normal and the predicted cold next week is at least partially the result of a stretching of the PV. The research I read suggests this type of stretching is likely to repeat, so while a mild period is probably going to occur for parts of November I am confident we will have plenty of cold reloading.

EURO with the Halloween triple phaser!
Exact details are all over the place but the common theme on modeling is some very cold air for this time of year dropping into the lower 48 towards months end.

Too far away to get excited. But nice to see for this time of year. Although i really do want Fall to stick around for awhile.

Hey Frivo, I’m going to buy the EURO suite again this year. It looks like most sites you can be logged into two computers at once so I’ll send you my login info so you have that to use this year. Is there a site preference that has better maps I should subscribe from that you like to use and has the entire EURO suite? No preference. I really appreciate that tho. I’ve bought the weather.us / weatherbell / and !AccuNotWx! pro but it seems none of them have the Kuchera ratio snow maps and some only have it in cm. Anyone on here know which website has all the good snowfall maps?

They also recently refreshed their model page making it easier to use

Euro still showing secondary development on the 30/31 bringing snow to the area

I am discounting the GFS and rolling with the Euro/Euro Ensemble/GEM mix for this forecast. I'm going with CFROPA late Tuesday/Tuesday night....with at least some secondary development... similar...but not as strong as the Euro operational. Also siding a bit with climatology and starting the wording for the Oct30-31 system as "cold rain and some wet flakes possible."

Euro still showing secondary development on the 30/31 bringing snow to the area I especially like the 78 mph wind gusts it has coming off Lake Michigan lol. Pretty interesting the euro has a couple runs of this solution and it isn’t in complete fantasy land. Would love to have a “historic” event to tide us over until the main event.

I guess I better get snow equipment out and make sure it all is operational for another season. Usually try to get this done by October 15th but has been a very busy year so far.
