Once we get into some colder weather and we get the high pressure that slides east and south east of us , typically that will set up a south east ridge/high pressure, that is what normally causes our storms to get pushed north east and not just ride along the gulf coast. Hopefully we can get that going at some point to create a a stronger baroclinic zone

Think the upper level setup is encouraging for the Monday system to come further north

I think we will see some snow showers or burst tomorrow. Could be some nice short lived snow squalls, with reduced visibility at times RAP and HRRR are pretty generous with the coverage of snow showers tomorrow

Not weather related but as a warning, the side effects of the second covid shot are no joke. Arm hurts like heck, can't raise it, got muscle and joint pain, and I'm shaking. Makes pipetting things at work a little interesting.

I’m ready for spring and summer won’t lie lol. I hate the cold. I only put up with it for snow and because I have to I was just thinking the other day how ready I am for severe weather season already. This winter (so far) and last winter have really sucked all the joy out of winter for me

Models were hinting that the LES band off Michigan would try to sneak into the CWA later today but KCHI radar doesn't look like that's gonna be the case.

Looking at long range progs(just couldn't resist!), models are finally developing the -NAO/-EPO combo that we want for sustained, wintry and cold weather in the Midwest and Eastern US. And looking at the progression of this pattern shift, I'd say somewhere around the 16th-18th is favorable for a winter storm somewhere across the region. There are also hints of a retrograde in the longwave pattern towards late month, which would be even more favorable for us.
Hopefully this is the stretch we've been waiting patiently for!

My prediction is we get the cold air the gfs is showing starting around mid month, but...
It comes in so fierce that Miami gets a winter storm warning before STL lol.
12z gfs was pretty damned cold for Florida by the end of its run.
So many falling iguanas

The potential for isolated snow showers this afternoon appears more limited than previous forecasts given weaker low-level lapse rates than originally anticipated.
We can’t even get snow showers this year ...... unreal
