Looking at mesoanalysis there may be a conditional tornado threat across IL today near the OFB that this morning's cluster left behind...surface winds are backed with ~150m2/s2 SRH and 30kts bulk shear. That may be enough for supercell development and possible weak tornadogenesis.

This new GFS seems to be a bit dramatic with just about everything - heat, cold, overdoing precip, etc., especially in the mid to long range. High Resolution Hype

The Texas power grid is probably going to get a good whipping the next few days. Both the ECMWF and GFS have 500mb heights approaching 600 DM tomorrow with the heat peaking on Monday. As of right now the power prices within the isolated Texas ERCOT grid are now averaging $1300/MwH near Houston. This compares with only $90/MwH in the expansive shared MISO grid also near Houston. They might be able to squeak by this heat wave without rolling blackouts (though I would not bet on it), but it's not looking like they are going to squeak past the frustratingly high prices.

Woke up to see a flood warning for SPI...all is right with the world, lol Did get a quick downpour early in the morning and a little soaker a couple hours ago but it didn't amount to much. Plenty of clearing across MO ahead of the cold front...would think there will be development later today with a severe threat. Great call again Brtn. I thought I was going to get split by the two East-West lines one going north and one going south. But we did end up getting a pretty good shower at most a quarter inch but it was definitely well received. I was hoping the Western cells on radar would end up going over me but it looks like they dried up.

I'm hoping the actual front that looks to be firing some storms just to the northwest of St Louis fire some more along down the line to give us another shout but we're kind of Cloudy here I'm still hearing thunder from the storms down south. Could you some more nicely soaking, not flooding, rains.

A storm went up just ENE if Belleville. Had a few sprinkles.
Looks like something might blow up along the front or OFB. Whatever is pushing through STL right now. I haven't been following it.
Infact standing on the metro link platform looking W/WNW. Thunderstorm clouds are actively building South.

Glorious rain in O'Fallon IL. About time! You can tell it's been really dry. I'm sitting on the schnucks patio. No one I could wait for the bus in this. And you can see the dust kick up from the lot. Now it's finally starting to get really wet and the temp has finally tumbled. Feels like AC almost.
