I'm told at home since I left 3 hours ago just over 2.65". So that's 8.75" roughly total. Will never see this again in my lifetime in Belleville. Thank God 🙏 most of Belleville is not susceptible to flash floods That was not always the case. Richland Creek has had very bad flooding in the past, and there were extensive improvements to the creek by the corps to mitigate flooding. Areas around the jail are still hit hard.

Unfortunately, a lot of this won't do much for the drought. It'll help, but 10" in a few hours doesn't exactly soak in.
Don't even...

Wow woke up about an hr ago. Can't believe how bad it got in some areas! From folks stranded to major highways shut down to animal shelters needing immediate assistance. Just unreal!

Here is what the 12z HREF is showing for rainfall the next 24 hours using LPMM. The 00z run last night did a great job showing the potential for significant rainfall in a narrow band, although it was ~ 50 miles to far north with the band. I think it might be to far north here as well.

Can anyone explain why the KSTL daily precipitation via the link below doesn't reflect the 1915 daily record of 6.85"? www.weather.gov/lsx/monthTabIt's there. Switch to August 2021 and you should see it listed on the 20th. Ah... so the 6.85" is an all-time daily record, not just for 7/26. That's what I was missing.

Yeah you're right the jail is pretty low line I didn't even think about that that park down there in Swansea behind the police station and that motor Mart I guarantee you dude that's a litte lake.

That was one of the harsest shifts I have worked in a long time. Soaked, cold, tired. Too many stories to tell. You cant call out ever flooded road. You can just tell folks to stay home.

I wanted to add that the bike trail between the Belleville and Swansea metrolinks runs down a hill into like a swampy Forest area where there's these large circular ponds that are static. But I bet they have spilled over. That whole area down there to the North of Richland creek is probably flooded. I don't think water could get up to 161 there

Someone needs to overlay the super clipper snow band from 10-15 years ago over this rain band on a map.

Would anyone have any interest creating a discord for the corner? More instantaneous chat and ability to do voice/video calls with screen sharing would be nice, especially for big winter storms and severe weather events. Just thought I’d throw the idea out there to gauge interest. Absolutely. Circling back to this, I'd be happy to get one setup for the corner I'm just not sure how many on here use discord or would be willing to use it. For those unsure of what discord is, this video explains the basics pretty well.

Hard to wrap my mind around that much rain in such a short period of time. Thoughts going out to those with flood damage. Seems like the threat was adequately advertised yesterday that there could be trouble overnight.

Looking at radar an hour or so ago I figured I would get some training showers over me for awhile. Nope. I have less than 3/16" (.188") in my rain gauge and looks like the showers have shifted just to the north. Just incredible how 'localized' the early morning rain was.

So if this would have been snow how much? It couldn't happen. There would never be enough moisture around in the cold air to cause 100 inches of snow to fall in 9 hours lol. Not here anyway.

Great Job Chris. Also one questions I am seeing mixed signals. Is this definately officially at the airport will this be the most rain ever recieved in one day ever in St.Louis Yes. Definitely. NWS STL posted the official report this morning the moment we eclipsed the August 20th 1915 total of 6.85" from the Galveston Hurricane. Both calendar day and 24 hour was shattered.

9.04" as of 1pm at the airport. We can't eliminate the possibility of breaking the July monthly record either.
