This weekend is looking pretty unsettled with the upper low digging in...some models even show some partial phasing occurring with the remnant sub-tropical low lifting out of N Mexico.

the rainfall totals on the euro for Texas the next 10 days is quite impressive. A foot+ in many areas. Drought denter coming, maybe drought buster.

I'm not overly jazzed... partly because I'm too close to the city lights. Also, these things always seem to underperform.

I've only seen the aurora once in my life and it was just a faint red glow near the horizon.

Fall is just around the corner...
2 Weeks till meteorological Fall
A month before the Fall Equinox
Solar Autumn is already Underway, starting on August 1st and goes till Halloween when we enter Solar Winter.
September's Forecast looking quite cool to start, maybe even hoodie weather! It does warm the second half into October, but generally way too late for excessive heat.

I've only seen the aurora once in my life and it was just a faint red glow near the horizon. I was killing geese up in Peace River, (Alberta?) and got to see them--probably 2011-ish. Pretty cool.
I'd say we were hunting geese, but they're super uneducated that far north. Could have reached up and knocked a couple down by hand from the layout blind.

tropical low in the southern gulf could break our 46+ Day streak of no named storms in the Atlantic today or tonight. Looks pretty well organized and has some opportunity to develop. We have so far tied for our 3rd longest streak of no named storms in the Atlantic since Collin formed near South Carolina in late June. Geez. September and October looking gnarly in the western Atlantic however with storms near the US.

I think it’s based off record now. You're right. But that would require someone other than the Yankees or Astros winning the AL. Which would be a series of fortunate events that would add to the legend.

He's gone back to Machine mode over the last 10 games or so. His realtime OPS, despite the low plate appearances, is 0.858 which is right on the cusp of his best season in LA back in 2012.

I had a brief light shower at 3 AM this morning. Didn't amount to anything. I've had nothing this afternoon or evening. Didn't even really look like rain.

We had a brief but very heavy downpour that ended with small hail while at Somerset Lake in De Soto around 5:30pm yesterday. It ended with an amazing rainbow that started around 40-50 feet from the house, then migrated eastward across the lake. Stunning brightness. Nothing at the homestead, 7 miles west of De Soto. Had some pretty close-by lightning around 2am? and figured we would get rain, no such luck. I just found this headline on space.com. "For the first time, scientists have named a heat wave" The article is new but the reference is for the heatwave between July, 24th through July, 27th. I'm not sure if anything has been posted in here or not. Here is the link for the article. Heatwave

Had a pretty wicked storm hit around midnight…… at least 40 mph winds ….. several branches down her at the lake Looking back at radar that had to be the lightning I was seeing when it was just south of me. It was really lighting up the grass around the place here. Getting old does have it's perks.....if I didn't have to go to the bathroom, I never would have seen the lightning. On the other hand not remembering which time I got up and seen the lightning cancels out the previous perk.
