From the Fox 2 video the PSB looks like a sheet of ice. Caught road crews off guard, too, I guess.

From Fox2:
ST. LOUIS -- Because of the winter weather, two overturned tractor-trailers caused a big accident in Collinsville that has stopped traffic.
The wreck is on westbound Interstates 55 and 70. Fox 2's Andy Banker saw the pileup firsthand. At least three tractor-trailers were involved in a crash with several other cars.

I am so happy for you all south east, you guys deserve this after all these years of misses down south. I am going to mow the leaves last time today just in case we get snow Tuesday, but I am really not sure what NWS is seeing as all models I see show very minimal snow tuesday. Models still show a pretty amplified shortwave lifting through our wheelhouse Mon PM...I can't imagine that won't lay down some snow. The biggest limiting factor is speed...there's only about a ~4hr window of lift before it shuts down...and models show the mid-level system opening up as it approaches. But if last night's system laid down 6", I can't see the next one just evaporating.

Fairview Metro 4-5"
Washington Park 3"
JJK there is 1-2"
Emerson Park 1"

I just measured 3.25" on tabletop and deck railing 7 miles west of De Soto. It was nice waking up at 2am (this time) to 2.25" od snow and snowing pretty good. Sad to have missed what had to of been very heavy snow falling before that. Still great for Nov. 12th.
Edit: Concrete in front of garage only had a dusting at 2am and now is just wet. Rock driveway has a dusting on it.

Short range models did a great job.
Another example that heavy snow and time of day will overcome warm antecedent temperatures!
Congrats to the southern board members. You have all been burned a lot, so this one should be extra special.

The Ukmet, Euro, and Icon all show a fairly narrow band setting up north of 70 that could drop accumulating snow.

I'm going with 4" in Fredericktown. I'm in shock. I don't know the last time I was honestly surprised by the weather, especially a snowfall. Even last night when the radar was blowing up I assumed it wouldn't be able to overcome the warm ground.

NWS has the Ferguson area for 1-3 In Monday Night into Tuesday. Is that what the models are showing?

This is one the biggest forecast busts to the high side that I've seen around here.

Ok southern folks. Your years of complaining can end now lol! Congrats on your suprise. There is literally no shred of data that anyone could trust that came out with enough time to adjust to this. Yes, there were one or two clues... but we've jumped on those clues before only to have it not play out... way more often than not. The science simply got beat last night.

Looks like at least 6" in Waterloo. Great call by some of the vets on here but even they understandably didn't call for that much. That was some of the heaviest snow I've ever seen by total number of flakes. Decent flake size but the amount of flakes was nuts.

Pretty crazy...I couldn't make out any real surface or low-level reflection on the charts. This was a purely upper-level driven event, with mid-level Fgen enhancement that was the driver for the focused band of heavy snow.

This reminded me of being a kid along time ago when forecasting wasn’t that great on snow totals , they would always use 1-3 inches and you would wake up to 8 inches of snow ….. last night honestly made me feel like a kid again
